Minister Ashot Manukyan met with the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia

RA Minister of Energy infrastructures  and Natural Resources Ashot Manukyan met with head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Switalsky on August 23.

Welcoming the guests, the Minister highly appreciated the support of the European Union, especially in terms of strategic programs in the energy sector.

The Head of the EU Delegation expressed his satisfaction with the joint work of the Ministry and noted that he would do his utmost to record more progress. Ambassador Switalsky also noted with satisfaction that the Armenian-EU cooperation agenda is full of both current and perspective programs.

"We have studied the Armenian government's program. It is promising that the Ministry of Energy infrastructures and Natural Resources has a clear vision and it enables to expand cooperation in this area",- said Piotr Switalsky.

The Minister informed that the Armenian Government and the European Investment Bank will establish a joint working group to discuss and submit to the European Investment Bank the programs that the bank will be ready to finance. Particularly, the projects of Shnogh hydroelectric power station, Hrazdan household waste recycling plant, Armenia-Georgia high-voltage transmission line are presented.

The Minister thanked the EU for the continuous support provided to Armenia and assured that it is consistent in implementing the agreements reached with the various EU institutions.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the prospects of the liberalization of Armenia's energy market, cooperation with the energy community and the development of "green" energy in Armenia as well as highlighted the high-level conference on energy saving in Yerevan in November 2017.
